Brexit Civil Society Alliance Co-ordinator

£32,349-£35,132 (£19,409 to £21,079 pro rata), 21 hrs per week, 2 years fixed term.

Unlock Democracy is being funded by grant-making trusts and foundations to host and manage coordination capacity for the Brexit Civil Society Alliance. The Alliance has existed for a year and was first set up to co-ordinate the civil society response to the European Union (Withdrawal) Act. It has over 80 formal members including many hub organisations and includes organisations working on human rights, environment, consumer, workers’ rights, equality, democracy, transparency, food, farming, and trade.

The Alliance has funding for 2 years to co-ordinate and support the work of civil society on Brexit. We are looking for someone who can deepen and broaden a successful civil society Alliance so that it is better equipped to deal with whatever arises as a result of Brexit. Rather than focusing on one piece of legislation, the Alliance will be working on 3 themes - open and accountable law making, respect for the devolved nature of the UK constitution and ensuring rights and standards for all sectors are maintained.

The postholder will offer support, information and intelligence to those who feel most removed from the Westminster bubble. It will also make sure that policy makers hear the concerns and experiences of civil society organisations from around the country. This means you will need to be comfortable with regular travel to meetings around the country - our most recent events were in Cornwall and the North East but we have also been in Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Rhyl.

If you have excellent project management and event organising skills, enjoy working in a constantly changing political environment and have experience of bringing organisations together to make an impact, we would love to hear from you.

Unlock Democracy campaigns for a vibrant, inclusive democracy that puts power in the hands of the people. We want a written constitution that clearly sets out what the government can and cannot do in our name. Unlock Democracy is owned and run by our members.
