Join Merseyside and West Cheshire Unlock Democracy Group for our meeting on:
“The on-going Liverpool City Region (LCR) devolution agreement – the election of a LCR Mayor in May, what will this mean”.
“The proposal for a citizen-led constitutional convention – We’ll look at where we are on this issue”
To be held on Saturday March 11th 2017 12.45pm tea and coffee, start at 1.00pm at St Michael's Church, 1 Horne Street, Off West Derby Road, Liverpool L6 5EH
We’ll be discussing the latest position on the on-going LCR devolution agreement and the election of a LCR Mayor in May. What responsibilities will the LCR Mayor have and will there be effective scrutiny and accountability in place.
Our monitoring of events, articles, letters in the press and editorials has shown a seemingly lack of progress currently on the proposal for a citizen-led constitutional convention. We appreciate that we at UD, as well as Electoral Reform Society, Make Votes Matter and others are currently active on the PR front, but as a result wider matters of reform, must not be neglected, i.e. the proposal for a citizen-led constitutional convention. We’ll be discussing how we can assist in putting the proposal for a citizen-led constitutional convention back on the agenda.
