None

If you don't contact any public officials, but try to influence government via the media, for example, you are exempt from registration.


Local MP only

Lobbying by constituents of their local MP does not require registration.


Local government officials only

Lobbying of local government officials is not covered by the register


Welsh government officials and Welsh Assembly Members

Lobbying of the Welsh government and Welsh Assembly is not covered by the register


Northern Ireland government officials and Northern Irish Assembly Members

Lobbying of the Northern Ireland government and Northern Irish Assembly is not covered by the register

Any MPs or Lords

Lobbying of Parliamentarians in both houses is registrable.


UK government officials

Lobbying of public officials in government departments, agencies and regulators is registrable.


Scottish government officials and Members of the Scottish Parliament

The Scottish government is in the process of introducing its own lobbying register. They are not covered by the proposed new bill but you need to be aware of how the new legislation will potentially affect you.
